Steadfast

LYRICS
My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast
I will sing, yeah I will sing Your praises
The dawn will proclaim the glory of Your name
And lift You high above the heavens
High above the earth
You are gracious, O God, You are gracious
In the shadow of your wings we find refuge
To You alone we cry as destruction passes by
To the Most High God who works all things
All things for our good
When my soul fears the roar of the lion
And my strength, it cowers down
I will call on the name of Jesus
And He will save me
My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast
With all that is within me I will worship
Thanks to thee we raise 'til the nations sing your praise
Your love is exalted in the heavens
It covers all the earth

SCRIPTURE
My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and give praise... Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let Your glory be above all the earth. Psalm 57:9,11

NOTES

This feel good song and all the great word pictures are right out of Psalm 57, so go check it out.  I added a few promises from the new testament for good measure.  When I wrote it I was on a mission from God.  Warning: when singing this song you may feel a strong urge to drive your car inside the mall.

The Word Is Right Here

LYRICS
It’s not so high, atop the tallest mountain
It’s not so far, across the widest ocean
The word is right here
The word is right now
Close as a whisper on your lips
The word is right here
The word is right now
Close as the beating of your heart
The word is right here, right now
The word is Jesus
It’s not in hide, where you can never find it
So mark your soul, ever to remind it
Love the Lord your God, walk in His ways
Keep His commandments and live so free
Listen to His voice, embrace His love
Freely give, freely receive
SCRIPTURE
“For this commandment which I command you today is not too mysterious for you, nor is it far off. It is not in heaven, that you should say, ‘Who will ascend into heaven for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?’ Nor is it beyond the sea, that you should say, ‘Who will go over the sea for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?’ But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it. See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil, in that I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His judgments, that you may live and multiply; and the Lord your God will bless you in the land which you go to possess." Deuteronomy 30:11-16

NOTES

Our pastors have set up a church-wide reading plan so we can study what they will preach about - a nifty way to get us all on the same page. I was following the plan one morning and this song popped out of the page and into my heart almost instantly.  Deuteronomy, really?  Who'd of thunk it?

You Stand At the Door

LYRICS
You Stand at the Door
TJ Tomasetti and Mike Conrad

Behold You stand at the door
Oh Lord we’ve been here before
'Cause my heart is broken
And I want to be with You - with You
Come wash me of my sin
And I’ll open up again
Come take best place at the table
My chair is a little unstable
The finest manna
In every word You say to me
Come whisper to my heart
And I’ll do your will again
Behold I’ve opened the door
Jesus It’s you I adore
A breeze is blowin’
The Spirit of your love in me
Come fill me with your grace
And I’ll love like You again

SCRIPTURE
Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. Revelation 3:20

NOTES

My friend Mike Conrad started this song with the cool guitar jam and a thought of Jesus standing at the door and knocking. What a great idea to wrap a song around. Jesus pursues fellowship with us and all we have to do is open up to Him.  He could command us.  He could give up and move on.  His love is steady even when ours is not.

Cannot Separate

LYRICS
It cannot separate
The bond will never break
It cannot separate us from the love of Christ
It cannot separate
No feeble hand of fate
It cannot separate us from the love of Christ
Afraid in my distress
Ashamed of my nakedness
Again I failed the test
He paid the final price on Calvary
Pardoned all our sin and set us free
Adrift in the deepest sea
When the waves wash over me
Am I to be or not to be
Christ is seated high on heaven’s throne
There he intercedes for us his own
Not even life and death
Whatever time is left
'Til we take our final breath
SCRIPTURE
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written:

“For Your sake we are killed all day long;
We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”

Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:35-39

NOTES

Jesus stands ready to send the power of the Holy Spirit to break through and save us from the hardest things that life can throw at us, so don't give up.  I'm just getting to know some brothers in the Orange County jail.  I'm looking forward to sharing this song with them.
